Red Bank Valley Trail Ride

This ride took too long to upload on my part but I hope you enjoy the beautiful trail and the western Pennsylvania country rail trail.

Velosano - Bike For Cure

Mark Frye and I have completed our Bike For the Cure by riding 150 miles on the Great Allegheny Passage Trail from Pittsburgh to Cumberland, MD. We did so as a way of honoring our loved ones and friends who have had to deal with cancer. Please consider making a donation at our Team TDMF page towards our pledge.

North Shore Again

Saturday morning ride on the trail.

North Shore Trail on a Stormy Night

Decided to catch a quick ride on the North Shore Trail. It immediately went bad when my left hand got hit by a hornet that stung me fast and furious! My pointer finger started swelling up and throbbing and my first thought was that’s it I’m going home. Heck, I’m no sissy! So I continued on down the trail towards the beautiful shores of the lake. Going past the big parking lot near MP 5 I think, I went into a sharp left corner a bit too fast and my rear tire started to slide and swerve out from under me. The road was wet and I shouldn’t have been going so fast. I let off the brake to straighten up and then pulled back on the brake handles and slid into the brush and woods, if I’d gone much further I would have been in the lake! But aside from my chain coming off and some minor scratches to my legs I survived. Finished the ride event free with very black greasy hands and called it a night at 14.3 miles.

No New Bike Day for Mark

Mark and I went shopping for his next bike. Looking for a Cannondale Topstone 4 but they just sold the last one as we were walking in. Not many options here at Pro Bike + Run shop in Allison, PA. Saved the day by having lunch with our high school friend Cheri at Over the Bar a great sort of rustic restaurant beside the lake. Outdoor seating and great food.

Next Up - What should I Ride?

Considering either the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon AKA Pine Creek Gorge Trail or the C&O Towpath Trail next. Either one I would plan to camp most nights. Pine Creek is 62 miles one way and the C&O is 180 miles one way starting at Cumberland, MD and going to Washington DC. Curious about your thoughts.

Bike Packing

I’m thinking I will give bikepacking a try. I bought a Big Alice Bike Packing tent and need a new sleeping bag that will compact nice for biking. Looking for recommendations on anything else really.
