North Shore Trail on a Stormy Night

Decided to catch a quick ride on the North Shore Trail. It immediately went bad when my left hand got hit by a hornet that stung me fast and furious! My pointer finger started swelling up and throbbing and my first thought was that’s it I’m going home. Heck, I’m no sissy! So I continued on down the trail towards the beautiful shores of the lake. Going past the big parking lot near MP 5 I think, I went into a sharp left corner a bit too fast and my rear tire started to slide and swerve out from under me. The road was wet and I shouldn’t have been going so fast. I let off the brake to straighten up and then pulled back on the brake handles and slid into the brush and woods, if I’d gone much further I would have been in the lake! But aside from my chain coming off and some minor scratches to my legs I survived. Finished the ride event free with very black greasy hands and called it a night at 14.3 miles.
